How we work
Public primary school De Kyckert is a school where learning is both personal and shared. Children learn to challenge themselves, to learn a lot and to share that with others, with an eye for every child and good cooperation between home and school.
Challenging yourself, learning a lot and sharing that with others. Being open to what you do not yet know and entering into dialogue in which you listen at least as much as you speak. Taking responsibility for yourself so that you can contribute to the bigger whole. That is what you learn here, on top of the good education we take for granted. Parents who go for good cooperation between home and school and commit themselves, together with us, to their child, fit our school well.
The school works in a results-oriented way with an eye for every child and combines clear learning goals with personal attention. Lessons are regularly given across classes, so that children work in groups that match their level or learning needs. For the core subjects, children deliberately stay in their own year group. There are also activities across year groups such as the culture circuit, shared celebrations and projects, and circuit teaching in the lower and upper years, where each teacher teaches from their own expertise.
For language, arithmetic and spelling, children work with Snappet on Chromebooks, combined with workbooks and notebooks. Reading and world orientation run through Blink. There are also lessons in philosophy of life given by guest teachers, practical traffic lessons and teaching in the school garden.
Every child gets what it needs. The school offers remedial teaching for children who struggle with language, reading or arithmetic, spots dyslexia early and supports children with it, with a dyslexia club in groups 4 to 8. Children who need more challenge get deepening work and take part in projects outside the group. Social-emotional development is also monitored and supported.
