How we work
Kindcentrum Waalcampus is located in the new Waelpark district in 's-Gravenzande and offers education and childcare for children from 0 to 13 years old under one roof. The team works from a shared vision, so the transition between childcare and school runs smoothly. At Waalcampus, learning with enjoyment comes first, in an environment where every child feels safe and is seen.
Waalcampus is a child centre where education and childcare have been deliberately brought together, so children can grow up in one continuous line from baby to teenager. The starting point is that a child only develops optimally when they feel safe and notice that someone is looking out for them. Learning with enjoyment is the point of departure: only once children enjoy going to school does everything else follow naturally. The Waalcampus team does not work as separate groups side by side, but from a shared pedagogical vision of how children learn and grow, with core values that come back daily in how staff interact with children and parents. The partnership between WSKO and childcare organisation Okidoki means that childcare and education are aligned instead of being separate worlds. In practice this shows in activities where children discover and investigate for themselves, as seen in projects around technology and reading that recur throughout the school, including participation in the First Lego League. In this way, every child grows in their own way, in an environment designed to support that.
