How we work

The Prins Mauritsschool in De Lier is a Christian primary school where children learn in a safe, familiar atmosphere. The school works with movement in all groups, so learning and movement go together. There is attention for every child, from extra support to challenge in the Leerlab. A school for parents looking for a warm environment with room to discover and grow.

The Prins Mauritsschool lets children learn from trust. Making mistakes is allowed, because that's how you learn, and that translates into an open atmosphere between teachers, children and parents. The school uses the Kanjertraining to teach children to treat each other with respect and develop a positive self-image. A child coach offers extra guidance to pupils who need it on a social-emotional level.

As a Christian school, care and respect for people and environment are central, with the Bible as a guide in daily conduct.

Children's development is tracked with Mijn Kleutergroep in the lower school and Cito tests from group 3. Where needed, extra preparation, extension or extra guidance is given through remedial teaching, and for children who can handle more there is enrichment and the Leerlab. Besides language and maths, there is attention for ICT, technology, art and English from group 1.

The school offers a stimulating environment with creative workshops and after-school art activities where children can discover their talents. Teachers, parents and children together carry the responsibility for each child's development, and the school actively cooperates with organisations in the neighbourhood and keeps communication with parents short.
