How we work
The Pieter van der Plasschool is a school where every child counts and learns by doing. Our education matches the needs of the child. Three needs are central here: relatedness, competence and autonomy. Cooperation and trust are our core values.
Children learn with and from each other. This is possible when children feel safe and we treat each other with respect and trust. We apply the norms and values of the Christian faith here.
For us, cooperation is a value and a condition for guiding our children. Together with the children we work on their development. Together with parents we work on good alignment in guiding their child and our pupil. Together with colleagues we search for even better ways to let children learn and develop. Together we search for the best solution to a question. Together with chain partners/organisations directly connected to us, we work on a continuous line in supporting the children in the neighbourhood. We cannot and do not want to do this alone.
Our basic attitude is trust. From trust there is room to get to learning, to be able to try things and make mistakes. That is very important, you can learn so much from trying and making mistakes! We increasingly see that our children are afraid to make mistakes and only want to take on tasks if there is certainty of success. By offering trust, safety and investing in the relationship with the child and parents, we want to create a learning environment that invites optimal learning and development.
