How we work
The Koningin Julianaschool in De Lier is a warm, contemporary and dynamic school with 215 pupils spread over 8 groups. The school is located between Piet Heinstraat and Abel Tasmanlaan, with a green schoolyard where children come into plenty of contact with nature. Here every child counts, in a small-scale and familiar environment.
The Koningin Julianaschool is an open Christian primary school that builds its education on three pillars: varied learning, wellbeing and caring together. Varied learning means there is room for movement-based, inquiry-based, digital and playful learning, matching the diverse needs, interests and talents of children. With wellbeing, a positive, safe and supportive learning environment comes first, with attention for emotional wellbeing, good mutual relationships and resilience. Caring together is about taking responsibility for each other and for the environment, with initiatives such as a green schoolyard and a vegetable garden.
The school works with thematic education in which the child is central, and welcomes pupils of all backgrounds from a Christian foundation, with respect and warm mutual relationships as a starting point. There is explicit attention for digital literacy and strong cooperation between teachers and parents around the child's development. The exterior of the building dates from the eighties, but the inside is furnished in a contemporary way.
