How we work
De Strandwacht is a school for special education (cluster 4) for children who need extra support with behaviour. Alongside learning results, the school considers the wellbeing and enjoyment of every child just as important. There is attention for both learning and the social and emotional development of pupils. Registering at De Strandwacht is only possible with a certificate of eligibility (TLV), via a separate registration route outside this procedure.
At De Strandwacht, alongside learning results, the wellbeing of the pupil is also explicitly central. The school works from the belief that learning on a behavioural level and enjoyment at school are just as important as cognitive development, and shapes its education accordingly.
As a school for special education (SO, cluster 4), De Strandwacht offers an environment with smaller groups and specialised guidance, tailored to children who would not receive sufficiently suitable support at a mainstream school. The approach is aimed at building self-confidence and teaching skills to better handle behaviour and emotions.
The school maintains close contact with parents and involved agencies, so that the guidance at school connects with what a child also needs outside school. More information about the exact approach can be found in the school guide on the website.
