How we work

Daltonschool Poeldijk, located on Bernardolaan, is a school where every child feels seen, valued and welcome. We believe children grow the most when they get the space to discover themselves and learn to have an eye for others.

Every child is unique. That is why we look at the talents, interests and needs of every pupil. We encourage children to make independent choices, take on new challenges and learn from their experiences. By trying, reflecting and always taking one more step, they develop confidence in themselves and their own abilities.

The Dalton core values independence, cooperation, responsibility, reflection and effectiveness form the basis of our education. From the vision of founder Helen Parkhurst, we see education as a place where children learn by thinking, doing and cooperating themselves. We offer children freedom within clear frameworks and provide the guidance they need to grow successfully. That way they learn not only what they can do, but also discover what they still want to learn.

At our school we prepare children for a future in which they can find their own way with confidence, curiosity and respect for others. Together we create an environment in which every child gets the chance to stand in their own strength.
