How we work
Welcome to Bernadette
We are a Catholic primary school in the Woerdblok in Naaldwijk. We work together with children on a calm working atmosphere, in which children feel safe enough to grow. In this safe atmosphere, children develop actively and with involvement.
We are a healthy school when it comes to wellbeing. Our children are socially skilled. They say they enjoy being at our school. The children learn to take responsibility, work well together and reflect. In doing so, we start from each child's own character: they may be themselves, discover their talents and learn how to use them for their own development in relation to others around them. The Bernadette school takes pupils seriously, for example through the children's council, in which pupils help think about developments at the school. We also train children in group 7 to become mediators, so they can mediate during outdoor play. Recently the schoolyard was redesigned into a green-blue schoolyard with more play options for every age. The greenhouse and planting beds invite children to explore gardening.
We offer extra support especially in groups 1 to 4, to help children learn the basic skills well, because we are convinced that a broad foundation helps children to grow well. For the upper grades, a remedial teacher is available. Our school offers English lessons from group 1 onwards. In the upper grades, a foreign language can be offered as enrichment. We also work with Levelwerk for pupils who can handle extra challenge. In group 7, children learn to type.
